Commissariat de l’exposition Seuils de Michel de Broin – présentée du 20 février au 9 juin 2019 – à la galerie Âjagemô du Conseil des arts du Canada, comprenant l’installation interactive Seuils (2017) et la photographie Nu (1998).

« Seuils propose l’expérience d’un transit. L’exposition rappelle la vélocité de nos trajets urbains, ces microcoupures dans l’espace-temps du quotidien. L’installation requalifie la mécanique interne de dispositifs d’ouverture des anciennes voitures du métro de Montréal qui fut inauguré pour l’Exposition universelle de 1967. Maintenant remplacées par des équipements plus modernes, les voitures MR-63 aujourd’hui obsolètes ont marqué l’imaginaire du déplacement collectif à Montréal. Survivant au cycle de consommation, l’œuvre contribue à maintenir vibrante cette mémoire technique. Il s’agit ici d’une forme d’investigation d’autres mondes possibles à partir des vestiges de celui-ci. »

Curating of the exhibition Thresholds by Michel de Broin – presented from February 20 to June 2019 – at the Âjagemô art space of the Canada Council for the Arts, comprising the interactive installation Thresholds (2017) and the photography Nude (1998).

« Thresholds is an experience in transit. It calls to mind the velocity of our urban journeys, small moments in everyday time and space. The installation remakes the internal mechanics of door-opening devices found on old metro cars manufactured for the inauguration of the Montréal metro at the 1967 World Exhibition. The MR-63 car has now been replaced by more modern equipment, but its impact on the collective Montréal imagination is undeniable. Having survived the consumption cycle, the piece now serves to keep this technological memento alive. It is an investigation into possible worlds stemming from the relics of this one. »
